Aeneas: Hero.
Aeneas was the son of Aphrodite, who was a goddess, and a mortal. Aeneas was the second cousin of King Priam of Troy through his father. He was raised by nymphs in his early life and then later was raised by his father, but was never raised by his mother.He fought for Troy during the Trojan War, but after it was destroyed he set out with his son and the household gods,penates, in his hands.He traveled to Carthage, the Underworld and then stayed in Italy. He was mainly described as big and masculine and very religious.He was a hero because of all the many wars he won and because of his part in the Trojan War. After his death, no one could find his body and he was worshiped as a god. |
Venus: Goddess of Love
Venus was the Roman version of the Greek goddess Aphrodite, the goddess of love. In roman times she even had her own day. Venus was also the Roman goddess of victory, fertility, and prostitution. She was supposedly "born of the foam of the sea". Venus was married to Vulcan and had an affair with Mars. Vulcan once caught her and Mars in bed and trapped them with a net and because of that they had a bad marriage and had no children, however she did have kids with other gods. She had Timor and his twin Metus, she had Concordia and the Cupids all with Mars. She also had Fortuna with either Hermes or Zeus and she had Hermaphroditus with Hermes. She had Priapus with Bacchus. She had many mortal lovers as well. Because of her beauty and sexual nature most of the statues of her are nude. However there are paintings from Pompeii that show her in different forms. |
Jupiter: King of the gods.
Jupiter is the god of the sky in ancient roman mythology, he was also called Jove.He was a protector of the land and the laws. The Romans worshiped him as a all-powerful and a good god. Jupiter was essentially the Roman equivalent of the Greek god Zeus in that they were both all powerful and over all of the other gods. Pluto: God of the Underworld
Pluto is the Roman version of the Greek god Hades. He is the protector of the underworld and judge of the dead. His father was Saturnus and his wife was Persephone, whom he had kidnapped along with her mother. It is said that winter was caused because of her mothers grief. No one knows for sure if Pluto has any children but in some texts it mentions a "son of Pluto" but doesn't give any specific names. There is a sanctuary dedicated to Pluto called Plutonion.
